George Lowden made his first guitar at the age of ten. He dreamed that one day he would design and make the best guitar in the world. By the age of twenty-two his dreams had begun to materialize; his perfectionist approach had created an international reputation for the Lowden guitar. In specially-built premises in Newtontards, a hand-picked team of craftsman, trained by George Lowden himself, now produce the acclaimed Lowden guitar to the perfectionist standards he demands.

Lowden Guitars are hand-made in Ireland of all-solid woods. Features include: gold plated tuning machines, pinless bridges with split saddles for better intonation, bone nuts and saddles and wood bindings. Limited lifetime warranty to the original owner. All prices include an extremely light molded flight case.

O Series

The Original series Lowden guitar features a large soundbox having a very distinctive outline with a comfortable 45mm/1 3/4 neck. The lightweight body, achieved by using split woods, combined with the unique Lowden construction methods, result in an instrument with immense power yet surprising sensitivity. A precisely balanced sound is achieved by voicing the bracing pattern to discipline the naturally deep basses and full trebles of this large bodied guitar. This original Lowden has featured the A frame bracing innovation since the early days of it's development over 20 years ago.

O-10 Mahogany back and sides, with a cedar top, wood rosette and rosewood binding.

O-12 Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides, wood rosette and rosewood bindings.

O-23 Cedar top, walnut back and sides, wood rosette and pear bindings.

O-25 Cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides, wood and abalone rosette and mahogany binding.

O-32 Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, wood and abalone rosette and maple binding.

F Series

The F models were originally designed with a slightly flatter body than the O series and feature a smaller soundbox with a standard Lowden neck. This design produces a more compact, subtle sound, while retaining the characteristic clarity and brilliance of the O series. This is achieved by tuning the bracing pattern to emphasize the lower frequencies to compliment the natural vibrancy of the upper and mid ranges, creating in the F series an instrument of unequalled versatility for finger picking and flat picking styles.

F-10 Mahogany back and sides, with a cedar top, wood rosette and rosewood binding.

F-12 Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides, wood rosette and rosewood bindings.

F-23 Cedar top, walnut back and sides, wood rosette and pear bindings.

F-25 Cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides, wood and abalone rosette and mahogany binding.

F-32 Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, wood and abalone rosette and maple binding.

Stage Edition

The Stage Edition has been designed in response to demand for an instrument which has the unrivalled characteristics of the Lowden guitar and the specific requirements of a stage instrument. The narrow neck, slender body and graceful cuataway make it the most comfortable guitar to perform with on stage or in the recording studio. Their approach to individually voicing the struts in the bracing pattern have enabled us to make this guitar controllable as an electro acoustic, especially at high volume while offering excellent sustain with overall sound balance and projection which belies it's smaller dimensions.

LS-1 Mahogany back and sides with Sitka spruce top, cutaway, factory-installed saddle transducer, 5-piece neck with sycamore bindings, rosewood, maple & mahogany rosette and walnut, sycamore & rosewood bindings.

LS-2 Indian rosewood back and sides with Sitka spruce top, cutaway,factory-installed saddle transducer, 5-piece neck with sycamore bindings, rosewood, maple & mahogany rosette and walnut, sycamore & rosewood bindings.

S Series

The S Series features a small compact body, more akin to that of a classical guitar, with our standard Lowden neck. The soundbox profile and voicing of the S series guitars have been designed to accentuate the bass response and remove the naturally over bearing upper middle frequencies associated with a concert sized guitar. This has resulted in an unusually 'big' sound for a small guitar with powerful trebles beautifully balanced by a compact but warm bass register; an instrument with truly amazing projection. This series will appeal to anyone wanting an extremely vibrant guitar in a small body size.

S-10 Mahogany back and sides, with a cedar top, wood rosette and rosewood binding.

S-12 Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides, wood rosette and rosewood bindings.

S-23 Cedar top, walnut back and sides, wood rosette and pear bindings.

S-25 Cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides, wood and abalone rosette and mahogany binding.

S-32 Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, wood and abalone rosette and maple binding.

S-25 Jazz

Based on the S series, the S-25Jazz model is the result of a pioneering development which merges for the first time in one instrument the characteristics of a master concert guitar, a steel strung guitar and the innovative design geatures created by George Lowden. The wider cambered neck and slotted headstock set the appearance of this guitar apart from the rest of the range while the bracing pattern has been voiced to facilitate the nylon strung, electro-acoustic nature of this instrument.

Dreadnought

The Lowden Dreadnought guitar follows the traditional external shape of the classic dreadnought design. However, it has been innovatively developed to add vibrancy and clarity using the unique design features found on all Lowden guitars including the A frame bracing pattern originated by George Lowden in 1976. The bracing pattern has been voiced to discipline the dreadnought's naturally exuberant bass and bright trebles. The D series, with it's disticntive voice, is a truly unique expression of this classic shape.
