Prior to joining Pantheon, Dana and Bourgeois Guitars crafted over 1,000 fine acoustic instruments that are still being played by musicians around the world. Today, Dana is considered to be especially knowledgeable about the voicing, selection and utilization of fine acoustic tonewoods. Pantheon Guitars is proud to have Dana leading production efforts in the Maine production facility and we at Mandolin Brothres are, likewise, pleased to have the opportunity to make his line of fine instruments available to you. The D-150 is a faithful recreation of the now-classic Bourgeois Dreadnought made famous by Bryan Sutton, Ricky Skaggs, Dan Tyminski, and other bluegrass notables. Featuring Dana's unique, single-scalloped X brace system, Brazilian rosewood back and sides and premium Adirondack spruce top, the D-150 delivers a blend of balance and clarity suitable for bluegrass (and desirable for most other styles of playing). Elegantly appointed with an abalone rosette, ivoroid body, fretboard and headstock binding, slotted squares and diamonds inlay, and gold Waverly tuners, the D-150 is priced below most vintage Brazilian/Sitka dreadnoughts, delivering great value as well as great tone! ..List Price is $7295. Standard D $3395

The best thing about the Bourgeois Vintage Dreadnought is that you don't have to imagine what it might sound like if you custom ordered it with an Adirondack spruce top. Adirondack spruce, also known as Eastern Red Spruce, was the legendary topwood used on most pre-war American-made guitars. Properly sawn, Adirondack is much stiffer than Sitka and Engelmann spruce, both along and across the grain. This allows the builder to make thinner, lighter tops, resulting in lightning-quick response and power to spare. Most guitar grade "Adirondack" spruce these days comes from the state of Maine, which still has large stands of original and second growth softwood forests. To maintain a vintage look, Bourgeois selects only the highest grade of East Indian rosewood, perfectly matched and quartered with tight, straight grain and darker-than-average color. (Though Brazilian rosewood isn't a standard feature, it is a popular custom upgrade). To round out the visual package, the Vintage Dreadnought also features herringbone top trim, ivoroid body binding, slotted squares and diamonds inlay, vintage tortoiseshell pickguard, vintage-style top toner, and nickel Waverly tuners. If the best thing about our Vintage Dreadnought is the Adirondack top that comes standard, the next best feature must be the price. Take a moment to compare appointments. We don't think you'll find a better value in an Adirondack topped, traditionally - styled dreadnought! ..... List Price $3850. Please call for the Mandolin Brothers price. .

Country Boy Dreadnought Mahogany has a quick velocity of sound, relative lightness of weight, and noticeable midrange overtone attenuation. As a result, these mahogany guitars have their own sound: i.e. warm, dry, woody, not particularly complex, but direct, lively, and easy to record. Mahogany guitars are often looked at as poor cousins of rosewood guitars, but the Bourgois Country Boy is dressed in classic appointments such as ebony fretboard and bridge, wooden rosette, tortoiseshell binding, vintage style top toner, and nickel Waverly tuners. It purports the same diamond volute used on the back of the Vintage Dreadnought peghead. In addition to selecting only the finest quartersawn and matched South American mahogany backs and sides, the Country Boy Dreadnought is appointed with an extra-premium sitka spruce top. When Ricky Skaggs suggested the name "Country Boy" for the mahogany dreadnought, all the employees of Bourgois guitar fell, as one person, on the floor. To this day nobody knows what caused everybody to fall like that. Luckily no one was hurt. Regaining consciousness, they wondered where he got such a great idea for a name! ..... List Price $3295. Slope D The Bourgeois slope-shouldered dreadnought is only about 1/4" wider than a standard dreadnought, but what a difference! Voiced for a more open, though less driving, sound than the Country Boy, the Slope D happily accommodates a wide variety of playing styles including country, blues, old timey, pop, contemporary, and -- you name it. Iif you're a fingerstyle player looking for a dreadnought-sized guitar that can handle fingerpicks or bare fingers as well as flatpicks, the Slope D is worth a look. The Slope D's interior construction is reasonably similar to the rest of Bourgeois' guitars, but they sure have fun with the exterior. Standard materials include premium Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and ebony fretboard, headstock and bridge, trimmed everywhere (body, fretboard, headstock, and soundhole) with ivoroid binding. To complement the theme, the original Bourgeois snakehead-style peghead is graced with ivoroid-buttoned Waverly tuners. And did we mention the standard sunburst finish? Bourgeois treats sunbursts like just another piece of wood--no two are exactly the same, and that's the way they like it. Sometimes the person spraying is influenced by the colors and textures of the top or back; sometimes the masked sprayer wants to de-emphasize a distracting feature in an otherwise outrageous top; sometimes he or she is after a vintage vibe. Sometimes they're just going for a cool burst! Sometimes just a beer. But if sunburst isn't your thing, no problem: Leave it off. Frequently requested options include natural finish, square headstock, Adirondack top, and rosewood, koa or walnut back and sides. With a guitar as versatile as the Slope D you can have it almost any way you like. ..... List Price $3995. Please phone for the Mandolin Brothers' discount and cash discount price.

Vintage OM You can think of the Vintage OM as a smaller version of theVintage D--or maybe it's the other way around. The OM, you see, is really where it all started. Here's what Dana has to say: "Back in the early 80's I had a great opportunity to work on very many pre-war OMs. . . .Over time I found that stabilizing the rigidity of the neck and setting it to the proper complimentary angle--relative to the degree of flexibility of the top ... could transform a ... OM into a monster. Remember, these are small guitars. I found that the best OMs can sound almost as big as a dreadnought, but you've got a much narrower window in which to make all the parts work as a unit." The Vintage OM is a culmination of Dana's two decades of experience in repairing, restoring and building the legendary Orchestra Model. It comes standard with an Adirondack spruce top--just like the originals--and is appointed identically to theVintage Dreadnought, with ivoroid binding, herringbone top trim, slotted squares and diamond inlays, tortoiseshell pickguard, vintage style top toner, and nickel Waverly Tuners. Premium quartersawn, straight-grained Indian Rosewood is the standard material for the back and sides, and Brazilian rosewood is offered as a popular optional upgrade. The OM is the only model in which they scallop both sides of the X brace, as a result of its natural need for a little extra help in bottom register. Because of its characteristic superb balance, clarity of voice, and sustaining top register, the OM was once thought of as the quintessential fingerstyle guitar. It still is. It's not surprising, however, that more than a few players have begun to realize that these same characteristics are also highly employable for a diverse variety of applications. (Bourgeois Guitars, has built a reputation on their ability to make Dreadnoughts sound like giant OMs--which is exactly what contemporary bluegrass players are screaming for. Or possibly their underwear is just too tight.) If you don't need to compete with fiddles, banjos and mandolins, jackhammers, steam rollers and domesticated owls that sing operatic arias, however, the Vintage OM might be just the guitar you've been looking for. Vintage JOM-150 $7295

OMC Dana says: "Twenty years ago, Eric Schonenberg dreamed about having an OM with a cutaway styled after the Selmer Maccaferri guitar. I drew up something that he liked and started building, but found that I wasn't able, at the time, to make such a tight bend in the side! So I gave up and substituted the much rounder version that I still use today." The OM is already a small guitar. It's unique sound results from the ratio between it's 25.5" scale length, the surface area of its soundboard, and the volume of it's air cavity. The addition of a cutaway, therefore, is no small consideration. Harmonizing beautifully with the classic curves of the original OM outline, Dana's solution offers three additional frets of accessibility while minimally altering the OM's critical proportions. The standard OMC, featuring an Engelmlann spruce top, is a fingerpicker's dream. Englemann is a lighter weight spruce capable of realizing a rich, full-bodied tone when responding to a lighter touch. (European and Adirondack spruce tops are also offered as popular options.) The OMC is simply and elegantly appointed with East Indian Rosewood back and sides, an abalone rosette, slotted squares and diamonds inlay, tortoiseshell binding and gold Waverly tuners. ..... OMC Soloist $7395

JOMC JOM stands for JUMBO OM. C stands for Cutaway. What an incredible instrument! The JOMC is an original body style developed by Dana in the late 80's, in response to players' requests for a mid-sized guitar having the balance and clarity of an OM -- but with a bigger presence. The idea was simple: Start with the OM outline, enlarge it a bit, play around with the curves, deepen the sides, then add Dana's trademark cutaway. The result is our most versatile guitar; larger than an OM, smaller than a Dreadnought, capable of handling almost any playing style you can imagine, and equally capable in of operating in solo or ensemble situations. If you need one guitar to convincingly cut a variety of styles--on stage, in the studio, or just around the house--it's hard to think of a more useful guitar than the standard JOMC. Or you can take advantage of the JOMC's versatility in a completely different way: In Adirondack spruce and rosewood, the JOMC is a killer flatpicking guitar (and it's a lot easier for some people to get their hands around than a Dreadnought); cedar and walnut transform the JOMC into a woody, sustaining Celtic player's dream. Or if you need a flattop guitar that can punch out swing rhythm and fat melody, it's hard to beat a JOMC in Engelmann spruce and curly maple. The standard JOMC is offered in a combination of woods guaranteed to make most players smile -- Indian rosewood back and sides, and a stunningly figured bearclaw Sitka spruce top. Dana, by the way, began using "bearclaw" spruces in the mid-80's; bearclaw spruces. The JOMC is elegantly adorned with curly maple body, fretboard and headstock binding, abalone rosette, and gold Waverly tuners; the package is completed with Dana's original headstock and backstrip inlay. .....
